UPDATE: CBL TRYOUT INFORMATION

Traveling Tryouts (2 required sessions) - Feb 21st & 28th

It's hard to believe it's time to tryout for baseball already, but the time is here.

First of all, we would like to apologize for confusion over the lack of communication that has come out to date.   This news article will contain everything you need to know (and if not feel free to contact a board member and we'll help you out).

This year we are again having to two separate tryout dates - we will have separate evaluator teams at each date so the boys will get more reps and looks than ever before.  While we realize an indoor tryout isn't ideal, the only other option is Fall tryouts as we have to have our rosters in to MYAS (our governing body) in early April.  We try to work around winter sports and Spring Break the best we can - and we realize this isn't convenient for everyone but we're trying to accommodate everyone the best we can.

So, here's what lies ahead.

If you are new to CBL - please bring a copy of your son's birth certificate if you haven't provided one already.  CLLL doesn't pass them along to us - so we need a copy of our own.

The first tryout date is Saturday, February 21st.  The venue for this weekend is the Vadnais Sports Dome in Vadnais Hts.
Here is the address:  1490 CR E.

Here is the schedule for February 21st:
Boys can start arriving around 7:15pm to get signed in and warmed up.
All ages will tryout at the same time 8-9pm in different parts of the facility.

Each group will have about 20 minutes to warm up prior to starting time.  Spikes are not allowed in the Vadnais Sports Dome- they can wear turf or tennis shoes.  This tryout we will be evaluating them on fielding and base running.

====================

The second tryout date is Saturday February 28th.  The venue is at Complete Game in Lino Lakes.  Click here for a map.  We will be evaluating on hitting.  The boys will be given 40 warm up swings and then 40 evaluated swings.  Matt Faulken (owner of Complete Game) has donated is facility for our use - as well as his time.  We will be using live pitching - not a pitching machine.  Matt is bringing in outside evaluators to score the boys.  These evaluators are not trainers from Complete Game and have no knowledge of any of our players.  Matt will not be providing any feedback to the evaluators.

The boys will be fitted for uniforms before they tryout - and we require a parent be with them to sign off on the sizes selected (please have 3 uniform number choices ready to go - we'll do our best to accommodate everyone's first request).  Please proceed with your son to the main entrance - we will be in a meeting room there for uniform sizing.  We'll have caps, pants and jersey's for them to slip on.

The schedule for Feb. 28th at Complete Game is as follows:
13's should arrive by 3:00 to get signed in and warmed up -  TRYOUTS WILL BEGIN @ 3:30 - 5:00
14's should arrive by 4:30 to get signed in and warmed up -  TRYOUTS WILL BEGIN @ 5:00 - 6:30
15's should arrive by 6:00 to get signed in and warmed up -  TRYOUTS WILL BEGIN @ 6:30 - 8:00

Please make sure your son comes with his own helmet as well as "legal bat" for specific age and levels.  For 13 year olds they need to use a -10 drop bat (the difference between the length in inches can't be more than 10 from the weight in ounces.  For example a 31 inch bat can't weigh less than 21 ounces).  14 year olds must use a -5 or -3 drop bat and 15 year olds must use a -3 drop bat.  Click here for a list of last year's bat regulations.  We will have a few bats for the boys to use if they don't have a regulation bat.
